Anass Essayi, a freshman at South Carolina who represented Morocco in the Olympics, won the men's mile title in 3:57.37 at the Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships at the Gilliam Indoor facility at Texas A&M. Essayi made his collegiate indoor debut in the mile semifinals, his first race since the 1,500-meter opening round of the Tokyo Olympics in August.
