Silan Ayyildiz, a sophomore at South Carolina representing Turkey, placed second in the women's mile in a lifetime-best 4:32.14 and finished fourth in the 3,000-meter final in 9:17.06 in her debut at the Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships at Lance Harter Track at Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark. Ayyildiz is scheduled to compete March 3-4 in the 1,500 meters at the European Indoor Championships in front of her family and friends in her home country in Istanbul.
